Aaron and Maria

Writing: The class is doing digital story telling this week, and this is what we have to do to make the digital story telling. You have to speak and tell the twisted fairy tail you made and you have to make a slide show with pictures off the internet to go along with your story.

Math: The class is working on graphing, converting fractions into a decimals, and then converting decimals to percents. We are also working on surveys that we made to ask the class to get to know them better. Once we have collected the data we have to turn it into a decimal and the taking the decimal and converting it into a percent by moving the decimal two places to the right. (You are multiplying the decimal by 100.) This is Friday we had a math quiz on how to convert a decimal to a percent.

Social Studies: This week we are working on the states fair project  with Mrs. Wright's class. We have partners and each pair of partners has a a state to work on and study. These are the expectations we have for the project. You have to have the population, the largest city, major rivers and lakes,  the state flag, the state bird, the state animal, all of the state's national parks, you have to draw the state map, and our last expectation is you have to find the climate of your state.

Morning Meeting: Monday the Morning Meeting leaders were Kyle and Jake. The class did the formal greeting. The activity on Monday was What did I Do. Here is how to play What Did I Do, it starts out with some one going to the front of the room and make sure they turn around and then they walk out of the room in the hallway and change something and when your done changing some thing, the person walks back into the room and some one will raise their hand and you pick someone to guess what you changed and if they get it right they have to do the same thing as the first person did, it is simple. This is what we did for the problem this Monday: The teacher gave us a division problem and we converted it into a decimal and then converted it into a percent.
This Tuesday we did pick your own greeting and we did a problem the was the same as Monday just different division problem. The activity that the class did on Tuesday was the Never Ending Game which I will tell you how to play. First you have like half of the class divide into two lines.  Then you use flash cards and the two people in the front of the line say the answer, the first person to answer it correctly goes back to the end of their line and the other person fallows. Then it is  the next two peoples' turn. You continue this until one of the lines have no people left in it.
This Wednesday the class did the same problem just a different division problem and we did the ankle greeting. All you have to do is shake ankles with each other and say good morning to whatever their name is. Then the class did the four corners for activity.
This Thursday the class did the elbow greeting and we did Around The World for activity and we did the same thing for the problem but different division problem and some of the class went skiing because it was a ski day.
This Friday the class did the butterfly greeting and we didn’t get to do the activity because we didn’t have enough time that morning and we did the same thing for the problem, just different division problem.

P.E: This week the class did volley ball for our unit.

Maria and Shawn

Social Studies: In social studies this week we have been gathering information about our state for our “Super Starr Down Wright Coolest State Fair Project Ever.”

Writing: In writing some people are working on their digital story telling and others are working on their twisted fairy tails.

Math: In math during this week we were graphing data we collected about the class. For an example, we graphed the classes favorite core subjects. Once we collected our data, we converted the fractions of each vote to a decimal then to a percent. Now we are making up our own questions to ask the class then we will turn the results to fractions, then to decimals, then to percents. We will then graph the percent of each vote on a grid.

Number Corner: In number corner we are plotting points on a coordinate grid. To plot our points we are following directions using a compass rose.

Independent Work: During independent work kids are working on their class jobs.

Specials:
Music-In music we were quizzed on our so’s and me’s. We also played egg shakers and maracas to the beet of the music.
Library-Skills day in library we started to work with the world atlas. Mrs.Guertin also had us find specific places on the map using degrees and North, East, South, and West. We found the places on the smart-board. Book day in library we signed out book for our Kinder buddies and our states fair project.
Psychical Education-In gym we went snowshoeing. Thursday we just went for a walk around the school, and Friday we played a game kind of like camouflage. This week we are starting our volley ball unit.
Guidance-In guidance class Mrs. Sadaro pretended to fly into our town of Celtic City and she asked us questions about the town. (We are trying to get her to build a big business in our town and we answer questions she asks to help her decide where she will build it. We have to brag about our town)

Other: This week our teacher introduced us to the newest member of the class, Grandma Chrissy. She is our class foster grandparent and she will be in here to help us learn Monday through Thursday.
